Xbox 360 | Microsoft hosting Natal 'premiere' June 13
Publisher segmenting off its E-for-Everyone motion-sensing event from its traditional Monday E3 press conference.
At the 2010 Game Developers Conference two weeks ago, Sony held its big coming-out party for the PlayStation Move, its camera-based motion-sensing controller that will arrive for the PlayStation 3 this fall. With Microsoft's own motion-sensing add-on also due this fall, the publisher revealed today that it will be hosting its Project Natal blowout on June 13--the final Sunday before the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo enters full swing.
Microsoft did not indicate what games would be on hand at the Sunday evening event, saying only that additional details will arrive closer to this year's show. However, as an indicator of what types of software Microsoft expects to show at the Natal debriefing, the event is suitable for all ages.
When the publisher first announced the device at E3 2009, it showed off a number of party and family-friendly titles, such as Ricochet and Paint Party. Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios also showed off an interactive demo between a person and a virtual child named Milo. Since then, a handful of games have been confirmed as supporting the device, including Lionhead's Fable III, and Microsoft has said games are on the way from major publishers ranging from Activision Blizzard and EA to Konami and Square Enix.
Xbox 360 owners worried that the publisher would be devoting its entire E3 2010 presence to the motion-sensing device may be pleased to know that the Natal event won't be replacing Microsoft's traditional E3 Monday morning press conference. That event, which will be held the day after the Natal debriefing, is limited to those over the age of 18, indicating the publisher will be showing off at least one M-for-Mature-rated title.
