Wii | Rabbids to 'Travel in Time'?
Ubisoft files USPTO trademark application indicating disturbed lagomorphs' next game will play fast, loose with four-dimensional continuum.
When Ubisoft spun off its psychotic bunny-like raving rabbids into their own franchise last year, it stood to reason that the publisher didn't plan on walking away from it anytime soon. That notion was confirmed in January, when Ubisoft said that as part of its full-year earnings revision a new game featuring the off-kilter critters would arrive sometime during its upcoming fiscal year, which runs April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2011.
Lost in the tumult that was the 2010 Game Developers Conference last week, the publisher appears to have settled upon a final name for what had heretofore been known as Raving Rabbids 4. According to a filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Ubisoft may be looking to name the game "Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time."
As with other trademark applications of this ilk, the filing seeks to secure the name for "game software and electronic game programs, namely, software games recorded on CD-ROM and digital video discs for computers." No other details on the game were included in the filing, though the title alone appears to indicate that Ubisoft's rabbids will embark on some kind of time-trotting expedition.
The Raving Rabbids series has thus far been limited to Nintendo's DS and Wii--two platforms Ubisoft plans to redirect resources away from. The most recent installment in the franchise, Rabbids Go Home, received generally positive reviews upon its debut in November.
