LOS ANGELES--At Microsoft's press briefing this morning, Microsoft Game Studios executive vice president Phil Spencer took the stage and announced the company's latest partner and its newest game.

The executive announced that Crytek will create an original IP and debut it exclusively on the Xbox 360. The developer is best known as the studio behind the Crysis series, the original Far Cry title, and the CryEngine.

The live-action trailer showed an armored warrior covered in wounds, later approached by two others. As the trailer ended, the project's name appeared, revealing Codename: Kingdoms. No additional details on the project were provided at the event.

Germany-based Crytek is currently developing Crysis 2, set to debut on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this year. Crytek also recently purchased Free Radical, creator of the cult-favored franchise TimeSplitters.
