DS | BlazBlue getting DSiWare spin-off
ESRB rates US release for BlayzBloo: Super Melee Brawlers Battle Royale featuring short-and-stubby versions of series' fighters.
Last year, Arc System Works introduced a new 2D fighting game to the West with BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And just like the developer did with its Guilty Gear franchise, Arc System is wasting no time building out the brand with incremental improvements and spin-offs.
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Portable hit the PSP earlier this year, and a Continuum Shift sequel is set for release in the arcades, as well as on consoles and the PC later this year. Now an Entertainment Software Rating Board listing reveals that a DSiWare spin-off has been assessed for North American release as well. According to the ESRB Web site, Aksys Games has received an E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older rating for BlayzBloo: Super Melee Brawlers Battle Royale.
As the adapted name might suggest, the game is a "cartoony" arena fighter, with "small, stubby fighters" competing in last-man-standing and capture-the-flag matches. The game was originally released in Japan as a DSiWare game in January, under the name BlazBlue: Battle x Battle. It currently sells for 500 DSi points ($5).
