Xbox 360 | Borderlands PC bumped to Oct. 26

Gearbox Software's role-playing shooter sees slight desktop-edition delay, 360, PS3 versions still on for October 20.

Gearbox Software's Borderlands has been a long time coming. Originally announced in 2007 with an expected 2008 ship date, Borderlands was bumped to 2009 after undergoing a game-changing graphical overhaul. With Borderlands subsequently locked in for an October 20 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, publisher 2K Games confirmed for GameSpot today that desktop gamers are going to have to wait just a smidgen longer for the game.

According to a 2K Games representative, the PC edition of Borderlands is now expected to arrive in North America on October 26. The publisher provided no reason for the week-long delay and did not indicate whether other regions would experience a similar setback.

Described as an RPS (role-playing shooter) by Gearbox, Borderlands is a sci-fi action role-playing game that combines driving and on-foot action. Much like Black Isle Studios' original Fallout RPGs, Borderlands sports a twisted gallows humor as groups of treasure seekers scour the ruins of a collapsed civilization in search of fame and fortune. The game also boasts a massive array of unique, collectible weapons that number in the millions.
