Wii | DSi gets UK trade price cut

Wii | DSi gets UK trade price cut

Handheld price to British retailers coming down, Nintendo says; three new colours for DSi LL announced in Japan.

The DSi is going to get cheaper in the UK, Nintendo said today. The company has said that it will be lowering the trade price of the handhelds from June 18, though it did not specify by how much. "The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers," Nintendo said.

Japanese gamers are also going to benefit from price cuts across the DSi range. The DSi LL (the region's name for the DSi XL) will have its price cut 10 percent to ¥18,000 ($196). The DSi will retail for ¥15,000 ($164) in the region, down from ¥18,900 ($206).

The Mario Factory also announced that Japan will be getting three new colours for the DSi LL: blue, yellow, and green. The new colours will be available on June 19 in the region.

Nintendo has confirmed to GameSpot that there are currently no plans to release the new colours outside of Japan, however. Nintendo of America had not responded to requests for comment about equivalent price changes for the USA at press time.
