PSP | God Eater picked up by D3Publisher

PSP | God Eater picked up by D3Publisher

Namco Bandai's best-selling PSP cooperative monster hunting game gets a North American release later this year.

Earlier this month, Namco Bandai's God Eater launched on the PSP in Japan and promptly dominated the country's sales charts, outselling Square Enix's Dragon Quest VI DS remake by a 3:2 ratio. God Eater will get a crack at another sales chart later this year, as D3Publisher today announced that it will bring the game out in North America in the third quarter of this year.

Often compared to Capcom's Monster Hunter series, God Eater allows up to four players to team up with customized characters and take down supernatural beasts called aragami. Set in a ruined future Earth where the aragami have run rampant, players must save humanity with multipurpose special weapons called jinki.

The game may be friendlier to solo players than its inspiration, as it will allow for AI-controlled teammates when venturing alone. However, isolated players will still have multiplayer options. God Eater is compatible with Sony's adhocParty software, which lets gamers use the local co-op mode and a PlayStation 3 to play online with teammates around the world.
