Wii | Black Wii bundle announced for Europe

Wii | Black Wii bundle announced for Europe

First non-white Wii available in the UK and Ireland on November 6, mainland Europe on November 20.

All the way back at Nintendo's 2005 E3 press conference, the company showed a black Wii as part of its hardware lineup. The black model resurfaced in June alongside a matching black Wii Remote and black Classic Controller Pro, all of which are available to buy, but only in Japan. Today, Nintendo has announced that the black Wii bundle will finally go on sale in the UK and Ireland on November 6 and mainland Europe on November 20, in limited edition numbers.

The bundle will contain a black Wii console, matching Wii Remote, Wii Motion Plus and Nunchuck, as well as a copy of Wii Sports Resort and the original Wii Sports. The black Wii Remote, Wii Motion Plus and Nunchuck will be available to purchase separately from November 20, as well as a black Classic Controller Pro. Those same controllers were also announced for the US market, though without the matching console.

The black console comes on the back of US price cuts announced for the Wii in September. The UK did not receive a price cut, but Nintendo did start bundling Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus at the console's existing £179.99 price point. GameSpot has contacted Nintendo for pricing on the new Black Wii bundle, but has not received a response at time of going to press.
