PlayStation 3 | Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days announced

Sequel to 2007's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men set in the Shanghai underworld; coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2010.

IO Interactive's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men introduced the world to the ruthless duo of the title, who starred in a blood-soaked tale of death, theft and revenge. Despite interesting multiplayer and a varied mix of locations, though, the game didn't deliver on its promise, and was received with a lukewarm reception from critics. That didn't prevent Kane & Lynch from becoming stars in their own right though, as Bruce Willis has often been tipped to star in the movie adaptation of the game.

The boys are back in town.

Square Enix, the new owner of publisher Eidos, today announced a sequel to the original game. Entitled Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, the new game is being developed by IO Interactive, the Danish studio behind the first title, as well as the recent Mini Ninjas and the Hitman Series. Dog Days will see Kane & Lynch heading to China, as they this time head head into the Shanghai underworld.

According to Square Enix, Dog Days has been inspired by documentary film makers and the user-generated era, resulting in a "never before seen" visual experience. It will also include new Fragile Alliance modes, expanding on the popular multiplayer elements from the first game where players could go rogue and steal loot from teammates. Niels Jørgensen, general manager of IO Interactive, promises, "[Gamers] are certainly in for a shock as we, with immense pride, welcome back our two dear, violent and somewhat unfortunate friends.ø

Kayne & Lynch: Dog Days will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2010.
